T idewater Trader December 23, 2020 Page B14 Maryland DNR Sponsors 2021 Statewide Arbor Day Poster Contest Entries Due by 12 Noon on Friday, January 15 th , 2021 The Maryland Forest Service, in partnership with the Maryland Forest Conser- vancy District Boards, is sponsoring a “Poster Contest” for 5 th grade classes throughout the State of Maryland. Do you know a creative 5 th grader? Encourage them – and their classmates – to get artistic this winter! Kids can share their knowledge by creating a poster with this year’s theme: “Trees are Terrific and Forest Products are too! Statewide Winners will receive a tree planting at your school with: 1 st place – 15 trees, 2 nd place – 10 trees, and 3 rd place – 5 trees. All posters are due to the county’s MD Forest Service Office no later than 12pm on Friday, January 15 th , 2021. Posters will be judged on a county level and the winner will be submitted to the Maryland Urban and Community Forestry Com- mittee (MUCFC) to compete at the statewide level. All contest information and necessary resources can be found on the Tree-Men- dous Maryland website. There is also an Activity Guide that can be used to as- sist both teachers and students in tying together curriculum lessons and the contest theme. Please note that a Release Form must be filled out and attached to the back of every poster entry. Winners’ teachers will be notified directly by March 18 th , 2021. SNAPPY GLAZED MEATBALLS 1 Lb Meatloaf Mix – or ground beef, ground venison, or ground chicken – you get the idea 1/4 Cup Dry Bread Crumbs 1 Tsp Salt 1 Small Onion, chopped 1 Egg, lightly beaten 1 Cup Chili Sauce One 10 Oz Jar (1 Cup) Grape Jelly In medium bowl combine first five ingredients; mix well and shape into 1-inch balls. In a medium skillet brown meatballs, turning occasionally. Drain excess fat. Add chili sauce and grape jelly and simmer 15 minutes, gently turning to coat meatballs with glaze. Serve warm.
