Ileana Lindstrom, PhD www.liminalsolutionspsychotherapy.com Please call me for a consultation: 410-699-0093 The Overwhelm of Psychological Trauma Liminal Solutions Psychotherapy and Consulting, LLC Simply put, a person’s or a group’s psychological trauma is the overwhelming emotional response to their direct experience of—or exposure to--traumatic event/s. The experience of a single event, like a car accident or unexpected loss of a loved one, can contribute to long-lasting feelings of being overwhelmed. Repeated experiences, like physical abuse or racial trauma, can also disrupt one’s sense of self and the ability to feel safe or to trust anyone. I have met many people who struggled for years with the effects of trauma and didn’t realize the links to a traumatic event. I invite you to consider working with me in a safe, confidential, and professional relationship to practice healthy ways to feel safe and connected, and gain relief from chaotic, raging, and hurtful thoughts and feelings. I provide compassionate, skillful, and affordable psychotherapy. Cardiac Rehabilitation Week, initiated by the American Association of Cardio- vascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation (AACVPR), coincides with Valentine’s Day, Cardiovascular Professionals Week and American Heart Month in an ef- fort to draw greater national attention to heart health. This year’s Cardiac Rehab Week theme, “New Start, Better Heart,” honors the patients, families and health care professionals who are dedicated to cardiac rehabilitation as a vehicle for a healthy lifestyle. Cardiopulmonary Rehabilitation programs are available at UM Shore Medical Centers at Chestertown, Dorchester and Easton, and provide a safe and super- vised setting for cardiac rehabilitation and pulmonary rehabilitation. Patients who have had a heart attack, heart failure, stable angina, heart transplant, bypass surgery, valve replacement, angioplasty or stent implantation will benefit from cardiac rehabilitation. A personalized plan incorporates education for the patient and their loved ones to explain specific health issues, outline a personal exercise program and identify other specialty areas to improve risk factors. Patients who have hypertension, diabetes, congestive heart failure and peripheral artery dis- ease can take advantage of a long-term maintenance program.
